Fucidin in Psoriasis

View through CrossRef
The sodium salt of fucidic acid, fucidin, an antibiotic, was given in a dosage of 250 mg t. i. d. to 20 patients with psoriasis vulgaris in a double-blind study over two periods of four weeks each. No adjunctive therapy was allowed the patientsexcept for use of an indifferent ointment, Vaselin aquosum (Pharmaconopea Danica). Patients with recent infections were excluded. No statistical significant effect of fucidin in terms of clearing of psoriasis was found. To rule out new, fashionable drugs for ‘clearing psoriasis’, the importance of a strictly run double-blind study is emphasized.
