Eine europäische Musikerkarriere – Johann Valentin Meder (1649 – 1719) in Tallinn (Reval) und Riga

Der gebürtige Thüringer Johann Valentin Meder bewarb sich nach mehreren Wanderjahren im mittel- und norddeutschen Raum 1674 auf das Amt des Gymnasialkantors in Tallinn. Nach seinem dortigen Aufenthalt bis 1683 hielt er sich in der Folge mit Unterbrechungen insgesamt 24 Jahre in Riga auf. Tatsächlich scheint diese „europäische Musikerkarriere“ nicht untypisch für jene Zeit – sie wird anhand überlieferter Dokumente nachgezeichnet.
