Miocene floristic regions of China

View through CrossRef
In the light of the palynological and paleobotanical information available, three Miocene floristic regions may be recognized in China, namely, (1) the Qinghai-Xizang Quercus-Betula-Thicket Floristic Region, (2) the Inland Forest–Meadow and Steppe Floristic Region, and (3) the Eastern Monsoon Broad-Leaved Floristic Region. Each may be further subdivided into two or three provinces. Their floral characteristics and regional boundaries are discussed in some detail.
