Description of cases of axial bifurcation of the Mediterranean Spur-thighed tortoise – Testudo graeca Linnaeus, 1758 (Testudinidae, Reptilia) based on field research and herpetological collection of ZIN RAS
View through CrossRef
Axial duplications are the most complex variant of anomalies characteristic of animals, including turtles. For turtles, the following variants of duplications are described: anakatamesodimus, derodimus, dicephaly, Siamese twins. We present a description of two specimens of the Mediterranean tortoise (Testudo graeca Linnaeus, 1758): with dicephaly and ischio-omphalopagia, a variant of Siamese twins, in which lateral fusion occurs in the region of the sacrum. Our data expand the geography of skeletal anomalies (duplications) and may be useful in studying the general spectrum of reptile pathologies.

High incidence of shell injuries in an isolated population of the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca ibera) from Romania
Abstract
Testudo graeca is one of the two species of tortoises from Romania, the other one being Testudo hermanni. It is well known that this species has a broad but fragmented...

Almond Spur Autonomy: Leaf Growth, Floral Initiation and Spur Survival
Spurs are the primary bearing unit in mature `Nonpareil' almond (Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A. Webb) trees. Our objective was to determine whether almond spurs behave autonomously wit...

Riverbed Morphologies Induced by Local Scour Processes at Single Spur Dike and Spur Dikes in Cascade
Spur dikes are elongated structures extending from banks into rivers that mitigate erosion by forcing the flow away from the bank. The research on grouped spur dikes is insufficien...
