Full face head and shoulders portrait of a man aged about forty. "Thomas Hancock, Engineer for the Nottingham Water Company 1782-November 11 1805, and was intimately connected with the water supply of the town. The company was formed in 1696, and one Peter Whalley was the first Engineer. Engraved in Mezzotint by G. Clint after the painting by Richard Bonington father of Richard Parkes Bonington)."
