INTRAPRENEURSHIP AND THE GROWTH OF PHARMACEUTICAL FIRMS IN NORTH-CENTRAL, NIGERIA

Amidst the evolving landscape of the pharmaceutical industry in North-Central Nigeria, there is a growing interest in understanding the role of intrapreneurship in fostering the growth of pharmaceutical firms. This study investigated intrapreneurship and the growth of pharmaceutical firms in north-central, Nigeria. The study's population includes fifteen (15) registered pharmaceutical firms located in North Central Nigeria, collectively employing 2401 individuals. To determine the sample size for this study, the Cronbach formula was used, resulting in a sample size of 384. The study used multiple linear regression analysis techniques with the aid of SPSS version 20 for the data analysis. The study found that pro-activeness (PROA) has a negative (-.071) and statistically significant (0.001) effect on the growth of pharmaceutical firms in North-Central states, Nigeria. Furthermore, findings reveal that risk taking (RISK) has positive (.091) and statistical significant (.020) effect on the growth of pharmaceutical firms in North-Central States, Nigeria. The implication of this finding is that firms that have proactive employee and are willing to take risks may be more likely to experience growth in this particular market environment. The study concluded that intrapreneurship enhance the growth of pharmaceutical firms in Nigeria. The study recommended that firms should ensure that their staffs are well motivated in order to be pro-active in carrying out their business operations so as to be able to maximize profit. It was also recommended that pharmaceutical firms should be willing to take risk in order to break new ground for new business which would ensure the growth of the firm.
