MEDIEVAL MINIATURE OBJECT

Miniature prayer-book in open position with engraved inscription. The inscription on the first page in four lines reads; 'PAX/ TIBI/ MAR/CE' and that on the second page, also in four lines reads 'EVAN/GELI/STA/ MEUS'. (Peace to you, Mark my Evangelist). The reverse surface is decorated with patches of small square stamps which imitates a leather binding. The spine has two sets of two parallel horizontal incised lines. Irregular, faintly incised lines on the upper section indicate pages. The lower section of the spine is undecorated apart from three circular stamps within the spine.
