Korean drama is a product of popular culture that is well-known in Indonesia. This show has a variety of genres. One of them is Melancholia. The Korean drama Melancholia was broadcast by tvN in 2021 and tells the story of favoritism at a prestigious school. Preferential treatment is given based on the personal characteristics of the person who has control. Exclusive facilities are only given to certain students because the assessment of a person is seen from the social background they have. This study aims to determine the representation of favoritism in the Korean drama Melancholia. The research method used is qualitative with Peirce's semiotic analysis. The results of the study show that favoritism is caused by social class differences in society. Special behavior results in prioritizing interests of the favored group, and inequality towards provision facilities in schools. The forms of favoritism in this drama are agreements to fulfill personal interests, cheating on test scores, determining school representatives based on special relationships, and student acceptance based on connections.
