The article is dedicated to the portrait of the Evangelists by Toros Taronatsi, a miniaturist of Gladzor University of the first half of the XIV c․ The study of the portraits of Evangelists is an important part of our research. Toros Taronatsi was one of the most famous painters of medieval Armenia, but his legacy has not yet been thoroughly explored to this day. Our choice fell on studying the art of Taronatsi for this very reason. The purpose of studying the work of Toros Taronatsi is to shu the features of his illustrated manuscripts, the artist's skills in the field of miniature painting. The main objective of the article is the analysis of the main components that make up the portrait of the Evangelists illustration system: Evangelist image, vestment, codex, lectern, instruments, tabouret, architectural background. The study used complex method of artistic analysis. Studying the portraits of evangelists of Taronatsi, we came to the conclusion, that there is an Armenian pre-Cilician, Cilician and Byzantine elements in the work of the master, the portraits correspond to the standard types generally accepted in Christian art.
