Wife Capture

Abstract
Wife capture (also referred to as capture marriage, bride kidnapping, bride theft, and bride abduction) refers to the process where a man, possibly with the assistance of relatives or friends, forcibly kidnaps a prospective bride. This may occur with the bride's collusion, as a form of elopement, but is also perpetrated without the woman's consent. While the specific process varies among different cultures, women typically initially resist capture but often choose to remain in the marriage once their virginity has been lost.
