Beta Dosimetry, Different Solutions

View through CrossRef
Abstract Various types of thermoluminescence beta dosemeters have been used and compared for mixed beta-gamma radiation dose measurements. The dosemeters investigated include; graphite mixed MgB4O7 and LiF pellets; cold pressed 0.2 mm thick LiF detectors; a pair of LiF/TLD-100 chips and cold pressed LiF of various thicknesses; a pair of LiF TLD-100 hot pressed chips with the same thicknesses but different filtration, and a specially prepared sandwich type dosemeter. This latter is composed of two thermoluminescent detectors separated by a layer of material with poor thermal conductivity. The glow curve structure using an approriate heating cycle allows evaluation of the TL responses of the two detectors simultaneously. The dose contributions from beta and hard beta plus gamma radiation may be determined using such a sandwich type dosemeter. The main features of the dosemeter systems, such as glow curve structure, sensitivity, energy dependence, detection limit, discrimination ratio between beta and gamma dose and their applicability are given and discussed.

Title: Beta Dosimetry, Different Solutions
Description:
Abstract Various types of thermoluminescence beta dosemeters have been used and compared for mixed beta-gamma radiation dose measurements.
The dosemeters investigated include; graphite mixed MgB4O7 and LiF pellets; cold pressed 0.
2 mm thick LiF detectors; a pair of LiF/TLD-100 chips and cold pressed LiF of various thicknesses; a pair of LiF TLD-100 hot pressed chips with the same thicknesses but different filtration, and a specially prepared sandwich type dosemeter.
