Abstract
Elizabeth was the daughter of Emmanuel Thomas of the Inner Temple, and Elizabeth Osborne. Her father died when she was 2, and she was brought up by her mother and her mother’s mother in straitened circumstances in lodgings in London. Some details of her biography can be gleaned from the ‘Life of Corinna’ prefixed to her published collection of letters, Pylades and Corinna (171-2).
