Physicochemical Properties and Types of Aerogels
View through CrossRef
Aerogels are a class of materials known for their exceptional physical properties, characterized by their high porosity and low density. They are composed of a network of interconnected nanoparticles or polymers, resulting in a solid with a porous structure filled with gas. This unique structure imparts several advantageous physicochemical properties to aerogels, including high surface area, low thermal conductivity, and high porosity. These properties make aerogels promising candidates for various applications, such as insulation, catalysis, drug delivery, and environmental remediation. This chapter focuses on the physicochemical properties and types of aerogels.
