Colovesical fistula due to diverticular disease of sigmoid colon: a case report

Background Nowadays, diverticular disease of the colon is an increasingly common diagnosis and is a leading cause of colovesical fistula. This disease causes many complications affecting quality of life even causing death. Case report We report a 42-year-old man who was successfully treated for a colovesical fistula due to diverticulitis of the sigmoid colon presenting with septic shock. Conclusions Treatment of colovesical fistula due to diverticular disease requires control of infection and surgical reconstruction of gastrointestinal tract and closure of bladder fistula.
