Introducing Ukulele Using Modified Chords

View through CrossRef
Abstract This chapter introduces ukulele to beginners by teaching simple open chords and modified chords. Students will play one-finger C and A minor ukulele chords to have early success with familiar songs. A one-finger modified F chord will be taught next. Students will move on to more accurate chords using the two-finger F chord, using the iconic notation as a guide. Students will later play a modified two-finger G6 chord to become familiar with the full G chord. They will learn to play the D minor chord using songs that include the F chord, which is similar in shape to the D minor chord. Strumming can move from one strum for each chord to a more challenging technique by adding more down beat strums and adding up strums.
