A new generation of book publishers emerged after the Great Fire of London, occupying new spaces including ‘Little Britain’. Some publishers such as James Magnes and Richard Bentley became known for creating collections of popular plays and novels. The young Jacob Tonson collaborated with John Drdyen to create a series of six volumes of miscellanies featuring contemporary poets, and translations from the classics.
