painting (gouache): ["The Blasted Tree"]

View through Europeana Collections
The blasted tree stands to the left foreground. Beneath it, two figures are seated and a woman tends a cooking pot which is hanging over a fire. A path leads diagonally from the group, over a stream, to a tower and wall at the right. At the far right, in front of the wall and by the stream, a woman stands between a group of trees. There are flat fields in the centre but hills in the distance, over which dark clouds fill the sky, only broken by a patch of blue sky in the centre and a white edged cloud. Unsigned.
