Research of Physical Properties of Masonry Assemblages Using Regional Materials
View through CrossRef
A masonry research program was conducted in the Metropolitan Chicago market to determine certain physical properties of wall assemblages incorporating ASTM C652 [1] brick and different sizes of ASTM C90 [2] concrete masonry units. The purpose of the program is to make design professionals aware of testing masonry assemblies and the realistic values that can be obtained by using locally available masonry materials. This is necessary many times due to a lack of confidence or the absence of knowledge on the part of some designers of the adherent strength that masonry material possess. This paper consists of the following sections: Brick and concrete masonry units ASTM C652 [1], ASTM C90 [2], C140 [3] Mortar ASTM C270 [4] Concrete masonry unit prisms ASTM E447 [5] Brick prisms ASTM C1072 [6]
