Résumé Sigurd Erixon est l’une des figures de proue de l’ethnologie suédoise de la première moitié du xx e siècle. Sa très abondante production scientifique est consacrée à la part la plus ancienne de la tradition populaire vivante ; les entretiens jouent ainsi un grand rôle dans sa recherche. Sur la base de ce travail – et d’autres documents – a été établie une cartographie de la culture populaire suédoise préindustrielle. S. Erixon et son école ont dominé l’ethnologie suédoise jusque dans les années 1960, époque où intervient un changement de paradigme qui conduit les ethnologues à s’intéresser aux communautés locales et à valoriser l’observation participante.
