View through Europeana Collections
A pair of identical copies of the same postcard, including a reproduction of Rembrandt van Rien's painting "Jacob Blessing the Sons of Joseph", 1656). In one of the postcards, the reproduction was printed in shades of green, while in the other, in black and white. Both postcards are uncontroversated. One of the postcards also features the title of the painting in the Russian language, and in both it was printed in German and Hebrew. These postcards were produced at the beginning of Phoenix Publishing's activity in Berlin. This publication, owned by Leo Winz, specialized in artistic postcards on national Jewish subjects. Both postcards were unused. A reproduction from the same painting also appeared on another postcard, published by Lebanon, Warsaw-Moscow, near that time. See also: Postcard TM 8* 471.5
