Founded in 1964 by Eugenio Barba, after the model of Grotowski’s Polish Lab Theatre, the Odin Teatret is an inter-Scandinavian centre of theatrical research which tests hypotheses within the fields of actor training and performance theory. The Odin Ensemble works year round under the direction of Barba at Holstebro (population 30,000), Denmark, where the group is supported by the municipality with a permanent facility and annual subsidy. To date, the Ensemble has produced four outstanding productions (Otnitofilene, Kaspariana, Ferai, and My Father’s House,) which have toured extensively and attracted continual attention to the Odin Teatret.
