La Curiosité engagée ou le choix d'Oda Makoto, « homme de la Renaissance »
View through CrossRef
Oda Makoto's book of his travels around the world /'// See Anything and Everything presented a new horizon to reflect on the relationship between Japan and other civilisations.
Through the eyes of a young man devoid of complexes or preconceived notions, we come into contact with different aspects of ordinary men's everyday lives in the various corners of the world. In Makoto's view, Japanese civilisation is already well integrated into the 20th century, symbolised by American society. He rethinks his position as a lone Japanese national, faced with the present state of American civilisation, European cultural tradition, and the situation of those Middle- Eastern and Asian countries which wallow in extreme poverty. While being genuinely moved in the presence of a certain Western cultural legacy, as was his predecessor, Mori Arimasa, Oda Makoto, spilling over with a healthy curiosity and an unlimited vitality, is sincerely committed to those people of Asia wno suffer.
