Cossack trousers of printed cotton, Great Britain, 1820-1830. Cossack trousers of brown and white striped printed cotton with a double band of treble zig zags printed in brown at the ankle. The trousers have a shaped waistband dipping to a triangle at the centre front and back. They are very full and tightly gathered at the front of the hips and tapering towards the ankle where they are indented to cover the instep, and have a double strap to hold them beneath the foot. There is a concealed fly front with self covered buttons. The brace buttons at the back, side and front, and the two securing the front waistband are of white metal. The band is faced with white cotton. Printed cotton, faced with cotton, hand-sewn.
