František Ladislav Rieger

View through Europeana Collections
Purchased in 1962 by František Sedlák. A tiny sketch of Rieger’s head was found in his Paris studio after the painter’s death. The discovery that the painter signed it for a long time after painting and that it was neither painted nor framed at that time testifies that it was a mere work study that did not aspire to the role of portrait.
