Manichaeism is an extinct dualist religion with a more than thousand‐year history extending from North Africa to China (third to seventeenth centuriesce). Its rich literary, artistic, and hymnic culture survives only in fragmentary remains. But an extensive body of anti‐Manichaean polemic from other religions attests the challenge it posed and the lasting impact it had on rival traditions still in existence today.
