The woman wears a white dress with red edging and the man wears a red jacket and tricorn style hat. Top right, numbered 2, a man and woman sitting on a couch, with details in yellow. Bottom left, numbered 3, is a green bird with long tail feather, sitting on a stylised branch with purple flowers. Bottom right, numbered 4, a picnic group with five figures sitting on grass and two rabbits at right. Signed at bottom right, but 's' cut off 'George [S]' ['The Happy Hypocrite' was written by Max Beerbohm in 1897.]
