Les corps exposés d'André Pieyre de Mandiargues

Vanina parmi les lis, La Césarina dans sa cage, Bettina sur son lit d’agonie, Sarah, Mariana, géantes au corps de bronze, naines aux chairs méchantes, vierges solaires et putes satinées, femmes statufiées, pétrifiées, femmes minéralisées, cristallisées, vivantes ou passives : les corps de femme, chez A. P. de Mandiargues, exposés aux regards, aux violences, aux caresses, ont toujours un air de chose de musée. Mais quelle humanité se joue dans cet échange de regards? Quelles relations au monde? Mandiargues aurait pu bâtir une phénoménologie de l’être-exposé, tant il a, dans ses romans et nouvelles, pratiqué une description minutieuse et concrète des différents modes possibles de l’exposition du corps dans le monde, que ce soit l'exposition-aliénation du corps voyeur et vu, l'exposition-participation élémentaire du corps à l’univers, l'exposition-affectation d’un corps sans cesse théâtralisé ou, originellement, l'exposition-expulsion du corps jeté hors de soi pour naître au monde.AbstractVanina among the lilies, the Cesarina in her cage, Bettina on her agony’s bed, Sarah, Mariana, giants with a bronze body, midgets with a mischievous flesh, solar virgins and satin-finished hookers, all women transformed in statues, in rocks, in minerals or in crystal glasses, sometimes alive and sometimes definitely passive: in the texts of A. P. de Mandiargues, the women’s bodies, exposed to the regard, the violence and the caress, are always exhibited as in a museum. But what kind of Humanity is in question in this exchange of regards? What kind of link to the World? In his novels and his short-stories, Mandiargues could have constructed a phenomenology of the “Being-exposed”, so meticulous, concrete and physical is the description he made of the different possibilities for the body, to be exposed to the world: there is the “alienation-exposition” (the body sees and is seen), the “participation-exposition” (the body participates to the elemental world), the “pose-exposition” (the body is dramatized), and the “eviction-exposition” (the body is expelled, out of itself, to be born).
