Role of Occupational Medicine Specialist among Tendon Rupture Cases as An Occupational Injury in Hospital Based

Background. The Indonesian Medical Council authorizes occupational medicine specialists to analyze and handle cases of occupational accidents comprehensively, Managing cases of occupational injury have multiple implications for the patient, the worker's community, and the legal aspect. Methods. This research method uses a case study and data was collected by interview, physical examination, and medical record in an outpatient ward hospital in Pekanbaru, Riau. Discussion. This case can be diagnosed as a work accident if the patient/employer can attach a letter of assignment as a weed controller. After it’s confirmed, analyze the cause of an accident to help the company conduct improvements in the workplace. The return-to-work program (RTW) will be planned for the patient by the occupational medicine specialist as soon as possible. The patient can return to work temporarily in another position that is safe for the patient, this condition may change gradually based on hand condition. Then occupational medicine specialist is responsible for providing sick leave letters due to the compensation for surat tidak mampu bekerja (STMB), and then determining the impairment rate based on the occupational function. Conclusion. Occupational medicine specialists have a role in work accident injury i.e.: (1) Determine based on the chronology as an occupational injury, (2) Ensure that the treatment given by another specialist is limited to diagnoses related to occupational injury, (3) Give occupational treatment for the patients and the worker’s community (4) Provide a sick leave letter based on the fit to work assessment and determine an impairment rating due to occupational injury to claim compensation.
