VOJISLAV P. NIKČEVIĆ ON AUTHORS OF MONTENEGRIN SOCIAL LITERATURE MOVEMENT

Academic Vojislav P. Nikčević is the author of the unique curriculum for the course subject Montenegrin literature, after which the teaching of Montenegrin literature at the Department for Serbo-Croatian/Serbian Language and Literature at the Philosophy Faculty in Nikšić has been conducted for years. The said curriculum in itself presents the fundament of any future project which would interpret literary phenomena in Montenegro from diachronic aspects, and its important part is focused on the authors of Montenegrin social literature movement and their work. In his long scientific opus, the academic Nikčević has been periodically dealing with Montenegrin interwar literary achievements, insisting on their timeless aesthetic dimension, constructed in spite of linguistic limitations which were systematically enforced to the authors of ‘younger generation’ by the editorial instances of Montenegrin and Serbian interwar magazines. The dominant sociolinguistic approach to the writings of the authors of Montenegrin social literature movement has, through subtle cuts, discovered numerous layers of interwar ‘social lyrics’, but also the argumentation which would be of use to generations of historians of literature and language.
