The Durability of Modified Silane Coupling Mortar

Silane coupling agent had been used in varying proportions and the effect of different contents of coupling agent on the mortar durability properties was studied. Due to the hydro-phobicity and bridge action of the silane coupling agent, mortar specimens exhibited better performance when subjected to a freezing-thawing cycle experiment, anti-permeability, crack resistance, and carbonation corrosion. The scanning electron microscopy images showed that siloxane polymer networks were obtained, resulting in the durability improvement. The results showed that when the contents of the silane coupling agent attained 5%, durability of modified cement mortar performed best.
