The Ursids at La Baume de Gigny belong to three species : Ursus deningeri, represented by a relatively archaic form in the lower stratigraphie unit (layers XXVI and XXV) where the remains appear to be in a secondary context. Ursus spelaeus, recognised in the middle stratigraphie unit (layers XIX, XVII and XV) as well as in the upper unit where its specific characteristics are clearly attested. Ursus arctos, the remains of which belong to the wurmian layers (XVI, XV, XII and VI), a half-mandible having been discovered in the holocene layer III
