The Influence of Self-Efficacy, Soft Skills, Personality, and Emotional Intelligence on Graduate Employability in Malaysian Technical University Network Institutions

View through CrossRef
This study aims to evaluate the effects of self-efficacy (SE), soft skills, and personality on graduate employability (GE) among final year students in Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) institutions, with emotional intelligence (EI) as a moderating factor. Employability is defined as the ability to secure and maintain employment and adapt to the changing demands of the workplace. The research employs a quantitative approach to examine how SE, soft skills, and personality traits influence students' perceived GE. Emotional intelligence, which involves recognizing, understanding, and managing one's own emotions and those of others, is analysed as a moderating variable. Data will be collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of 370 undergraduate students from four MTUN institutions. The questionnaire will assess students' SE, soft skills, personality traits, EI, and perceived GE. Statistical analysis will be used to determine the relationships between these factors. The study's findings are expected to provide insights into the essential characteristics that enhance employability, guiding curriculum development to better prepare students for the job market. By identifying key factors that contribute to employability, the research aims to inform educational strategies, leading to more effective training programs, enhanced career services, and targeted interventions. Ultimately, this study seeks to contribute to the broader goal of improving graduate employability and ensuring that higher education institutions (HEIs) produce graduates who are well-equipped to succeed in their careers.
