Production of glucose isomerase by genus Streptomyces

View through CrossRef
AbstractScreening for glucose isomerases was done using 46 species and 63 strains of Streptomyces type cultures. Glucose isomerase was found in a wide range of these species. The intracellular glucose isomerase of S. olivochromogenes showed the highest fructose conversion ratio. The apparent extracellular glucose isomerase activities were observed for several strains of Streptomyces, Streptomyces venezuelae had the highest apparent extracellular glucose isomerase activity. The glucose isomerase yield was improved from 1.95 units/ml to 7.5 units/ml by induced mutation and culturing condition studies. This increase isomerase yield has made it possible to produce glucose isomerase industrially.
Title: Production of glucose isomerase by genus Streptomyces
Description:
AbstractScreening for glucose isomerases was done using 46 species and 63 strains of Streptomyces type cultures.
Glucose isomerase was found in a wide range of these species.
The intracellular glucose isomerase of S.
olivochromogenes showed the highest fructose conversion ratio.
The apparent extracellular glucose isomerase activities were observed for several strains of Streptomyces, Streptomyces venezuelae had the highest apparent extracellular glucose isomerase activity.
The glucose isomerase yield was improved from 1.
95 units/ml to 7.
5 units/ml by induced mutation and culturing condition studies.
This increase isomerase yield has made it possible to produce glucose isomerase industrially.
