SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-EFFICACY AMONG NEWSCASTERS AND NEWS REPORTERS

The present study aimedto investigaterelationship between self-esteem and self-efficacy among news casters and news reporters and to compare both groups in self-esteemand self-efficacy. It was hypothesized that 1) there is likely to be a relationship between self-esteem and self-efficacy innewscasters and news reporters, 2) there is likely to be a difference in self-esteem and self-efficacy among newscasters and news reporters and 3) self-esteem is likely to predict self-efficacy in newscasters and news reporters. It was correlational with cross-sectional research design. The sample comprised of 100 participants (50= News-Casters; 50= News Reporters)of age range 25-45 years (M=25,SD=79, News-Casters; M= 25, SD=33.3, News Reporters) from different news rooms and print mediaoffices. Rosenberg self-esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1965) and General self-efficacy scale (Schwarzer, 1981) were used to collect data. The results of Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed significant positive relationship between self-esteem and self-efficacy in newscasters and news reporters. The results of independent sample t-test showed non-significant difference innews casters and news reporters regarding self-esteem and self-efficacy. Further, Results of regression analysis showed that self-esteem positively predicts the self-efficacy in news casters and news reporters. Results have important implications for newscasters and news reporters to manage their self-esteem and self-efficacy in order to enhance their self-imageand job performance.Keywords.
