Original; reproduction; annotations: 44342; the so-called Thirty Years' War (1527-1557) saw Christian and Muslim opposition and was sparked by Sultan Ahmed Ibn Ibrahim: the Sultan ordered the Muslim city of Adal not to pay the annual tribute due to the Christian empire of Ethiopia, so he sent an army composed mainly of Somalis with firearms supplied by the Turks, an exceptional novelty that sown terror among the Ethiopians. The principal of photography is probably Erich Friedrich Schmidt (1897-1964), a German archaeologist naturalized in America, who specialized in near-eastern archaeology (he was professor emeritus at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago).
