Integrated PSDM seismic attributes and reservoir dynamic data for fault prediction in H oilfield, Middle East

View through CrossRef
Fault interpretation is the foundation and key of seismic data interpretation, which plays a very important role in seismic data interpretation. Accurate and reasonable fault identification is very important for oil and gas exploitation and development, because it affects the accuracy of the seismic structure map and controls the oilfield injection-production relationship. Currently, coherence analysis, curvature analysis and edge detection technique are usually applied for fault interpretation based on the pre-stack time migration (PSTM) seismic data. Due to lateral variation of the seismic velocity in fault zone, the fault location from the PSTM seismic data is not the real position. This kind of fault location error will lead to lots of problems during the oilfield development. In this paper, an update fault prediction method was introduced. Seismic attributes from pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) seismic data and reservoir dynamic data was integrated for fault prediction. And the application case in H oilfield in the Middle East shows that the fault location is more accurate. Elaborated fault interpretation is contribute to explain the abnormal reservoir dynamic problems during oilfield development, and is useful for the oilfield development plan adjustment.
