Abstract
Employing meticulous research and in-depth analysis, this book is an evaluation and celebration of Marilyn Monroe’s most permanent legacy: her work. From her beginnings as a movie bit player to stardom and then legend, she worked harder at her craft than most people were ever aware. Monroe was, in fact, the complete opposite of a “dumb blonde”; instead, she was an intelligent and curious woman who always sought to find truth and validity in her roles. She constantly fought for better material and, despite her well-documented personal demons, strove to be a consummate professional. In films such as Some Like It Hot and The Seven Year Itch, she triumphed over both her detractors and her own massive insecurities. Moving past all the sensation and speculation, this Opinionated Guide takes an informed and lively look at the enduring achievements of this extraordinary artist.
