ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC SECURITY AND POTENTIAL OF THE VOLGOGRAD REGION

Introduction. Economic security is the foundation on which the successful functioning of the state as a subject of world economic relations is based, capable of ensuring the vital activity of its own population and the prospects for its existence in the future. It is a complex and multifaceted structure. Being a part of the national security system, it simultaneously forms the basis for the formation of all the elements included in its structure. The purpose of the article is to analyze the economic potential and assess the economic security of the Volgograd region. Methodology. The instrumental and methodological apparatus of the research is based on the use of general scientific and special methods, including abstract-logical, monographic, computational-constructive, graphical, methods of multidimensional statistical analysis, content analysis. Results. The geopolitical, tourist and natural potentials of the region are analyzed, the demographic situation and the gross regional product are assessed, the state of the budgetary and financial sphere is assessed. The analysis of the level of economic security of the Volgograd region and its potential is carried out. Conclusions. The article presents, as a result of assessing the level of economic security of the Volgograd region, its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the projected measures for further development of strengths and elimination of weaknesses.
