Measures

This section presents the range of measures regulating the faculty jurisdiction and clergy discipline of the Church of England. It begins with the Parochial Church Councils (Powers) Measure 1956, which covers the definitions of ‘Council’, ‘Diocesan Authority’, ‘Minister’ and ‘Parish’, and ‘Relevant date’; general functions of parochial church councils; the council as a body corporate; powers vested in the council as successor to certain other bodies; holding of property for ecclesiastical purposes (educational schemes); supplementary provisions relating to certain property; miscellaneous powers of the council; financial statements of the council; and powers of bishops. Also discussed are the Churchwardens Measure 2001, the Clergy Discipline Measure 2003, the Bishops and Priests (Consecration and Ordination of Women) Measure 2014, and the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and Care of Churches Measure 2017.
