Jerusalem: The Old City Wall.
View through Europeana Collections
A pair of identical copies of the same postcard, with a mesh print from a photograph of the Old City, Jerusalem, from the Ben Hinnom Guy area, towards the Sultan's Pool, at the mouth of the Tower of David and the Citadel. At the center of the photograph is the northern end of Hebron Road, which leads to Jaffa Gate. One of the copies of the postcard is black and white, while in the other copy, the image is partially painted. The postcard did not name the photographer or the date of the photo. According to the ruins of the Mamilla houses visible at the end of the photograph, it must be assumed that the original photograph was made in the early 1950s. On the back of the postcard it was noted that it is from the "Photona" series these postcards are divided, and were not used. They were produced by Palphot in Israel, probably in the 1950s.
