Directional Dark Matter Search with Super-resolution Nuclear Emulsion

Direct dark matter approaches are currently extensively used to search for the dark matter, and the directionalinformation of dark matter candidates would be the only way to overcome the neutrino floor or tostudy the properties of any found signal. We are studying the direction sensitive dark matter search usinga super-high resolution nuclear emulsion, NIT which stands for Nano Imaging Tracker. NIT consists ofsilver-halide crystlas (AgBr(I)) with diameters at the 10 nm scale, and they can detect nanometric tracks asexpected for nuclear recoils induced by dark matter scattering. The NEWSdm project is carrying out measurementsin the Gran Sasso INFN laboratory, LNGS, in Italy. In this review, we review the technologiesfor the NEWSdm experiment and the challenges for the near-future dark matter search.
