Profil Pasien Sifilis Berdasarkan Status HIV di Puskesmas Glugur Darat 2024-2025

Syphilis is one of the sexually transmitted infections that remains a public health problem in Indonesia and is closely related to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. Coinfection with syphilis and HIV can affect clinical manifestations, disease progression, and therapeutic response. Community health centers (Puskesmas), as primary health care facilities, play an important role in the detection and management of syphilis, but local data on the characteristics of syphilis patients based on HIV status are still limited. This study aims to determine the profile of syphilis patients based on HIV status at the Glugur Darat Community Health Center in Medan in 2024. This study uses a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all syphilis patients undergoing treatment at the Glugur Darat Community Health Center in Medan City during the study period, with a total sampling technique. The study variables included sociodemographic characteristics, syphilis stage, and HIV status. The data used were secondary data obtained from patient medical records, which were then analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of proportions. The results showed that most syphilis patients were adults, male, unmarried, and had a high school education level. Based on clinical stage, primary syphilis was the most common stage. In addition, the majority of syphilis patients were HIV reactive, especially in the primary stage. The conclusion of this study shows that syphilis patients at the Glugur Darat Community Health Center are predominantly adults with certain social characteristics and a fairly high proportion of HIV co-infection, thus requiring strengthening of prevention, screening, and integrated management of syphilis and HIV at the primary care level.
