View through CrossRef
The article is dedicated to the personality and work of the legendary modern painter and teacher Luo Zhongli, whose paintings are exhibited today in the best galleries in the world. The focus of the author's attention is the images of animals on the canvases of the Chinese artist, revealing the evolution of the thinking of Lo Zhongli, for whom the topic of human-animal relations becomes one of the indicative in terms of expressing philosophical ideas. Representative paintings of Lo Zhongli of the 1980s–1990s are analysed, referring to different types of animal painting. It is shown that at different stages of the path, the “animalistic” line in the work of the Chinese painter underwent metamorphosis, both in terms of semantic content and artistic forms of expression.
