Bibliometrics of Culturology Studies: Problem Statement

The paper formulates and substantiates the need to create an objective quantification picture of the development of culturology as a science based on the analysis of publication activity by means of bibliometrics. The advantages of bibliometrics and its high efficiency for solving scientometric problems are demonstrated. Special attention is focused not on the universal aspects, but on its specificity in the context of monitoring the culturology document flow as a continuously developing corpus of semantically correlating papers that serve as a means of accumulating, storing and transmitting culturology knowledge about culture. The author gives a number of explanatory recommendations, specifies the geography of the research, clarifies the scientific status and scientific nomenclature in the post-Soviet States, distinguishes and describes the most promising types of simple bibliometrics (temporary bibliometrics, spatial bibliometrics, classification bibliometrics, rubrication bibliometrics, terminology bibliometrics, status bibliometrics), indicates the methodology and the possible results of the structural bibliometrics.
