Abstract
War comes home when soldiers carry the remnants of the conflict back with them. The Sun Also Rises is Ernest Hemngway’s Masterpiece and is one of the most influential works of the 20th century. This article explores different aspects of the novel in relation to the theme of the loss of purpose after war. The paper also shows how the novel portrays the post-war disillusionment and the feeling of alienation from society which lead to a new chapter of struggle. The paper then concludes that the novel is a powerful critique of the modern civilization that produced war and its consequences.
