COOPETITION AND SALES TURNOVER OF MICRO, SMALL, MEDIUM AND LARGE ENTERPRISES IN SOUTHWEST, NIGERIA

In the quest for finding a way of responding quickly and rapidly to opportunities, uncertainties, challenges and technological advancement in a changing business environment, coopetition which involves cooperation and competition among enterprises can be considered as a way out. This study explored how coopetition has influenced the sales turnover of Micro, Small, Medium and Large Enterprises (MSMLEs) in Southwest zone of Nigeria. The study employed both descriptive and inferential statistics to determine the factors influencing coopetition and the effect of coopetition on sales turnover of MSMLEs in the zone. From the findings, it was found that 60% of MSMLE operators in the zone adopt the use of coopetition as strategy for innovativeness. And their engagement in coopetition was influenced by factors such as size of an enterprise, organizational agility and intellectual property. It was also established that adoption and use of coopetition among operators of MSMLEs in Southwest zone of Nigeria enhances continuous innovation and sales turnover.
