In Discoglossus pictus as well as in Discoglossus sardus the mating calls are produced during inspiration and expiration. Accordingly, the mating calls consist of two pulse groups arranged in series. In both species the mating calls are specific. Their duration depends upon the temperature and the length of the animals.
