PEMATUHAN DAN PELANGGARAN PRINSIP KESANTUNAN WARGANET DALAM KOLOM KOMENTAR INSTAGRAM @PRABOWO

Politeness is an important component in communication. Politeness, respect, and good attitude are part of politeness. Politeness encourages speakers to speak and at the same time regulates to ensure that the conversation goes well, is interesting, and is not in vain. Polite language is needed to create a comfortable environment and avoid a turbulent atmosphere. One of the social media that is widely used by the public is Instagram. Instagram is a social media that is very popular with the public. Instagram contains information about culture, politics, lifestyle, and education. This platform allows people from various demographics to express their opinions and comment on events that are being widely discussed. The researcher chose Mr. Prabowo Subianto's Instagram account for research because he is the president-elect in 2024 and has run as a presidential candidate several times but has not been elected. He is active on his Instagram account @prabowo and has 14.9 million followers with 1,513 posts. The purpose of this study was to describe the compliance and violation of the principles of politeness of netizens in the comments column on Instagram @prabowo. The research method is a qualitative method that produces descriptive analysis. The researcher describes the facts in the form of speech in the @prabowo comment column and analyzes the principles of compliance and violation of the principle of politeness according to the principles of Leech or Brown and Levinson. Data collection using library and documentation techniques. Seeing the many comments, data collection was limited to November 23 to December 7, 2024. The use of the maxim of the principle of politeness in the @prabowo Instagram comment column from 21 research data found 11 compliances, consisting of the maxim of wisdom 3 compliances, the maxim of generosity 1 compliance, the maxim of praise 2 compliances, the maxim of humility 2 compliances, the maxim of agreement 0 compliances, and the maxim of sympathy 3 compliances. Violation of the maxim of politeness principles in the comment column of Instagram @Prabowo from 21 research data found 10 violations, maxim of wisdom 2 violations, maxim of generosity 1 violation, maxim of praise 2 violations, maxim of humility 1 violation, maxim of agreement 2 violations, and maxim of sympathy 2 violations. The implications of this study can enrich and expand the understanding of politeness theory, especially in the context of social media. In addition, this study contributes to the development of methodology and framework for social media discourse analysis, especially in the context of political interaction. This study can provide insight into how language is used to build, maintain, or damage the public image of political figures on social media.
