Title: Energy Efficiency Policy and Standards
Description:
This review paper presents energy efficiency policy and standards in the global scene as well as in South Africa.
The need for energy efficiency standards and policy is very important.
The effect of climate change because of using fossil and biomass energy sources, inefficient use of energy, and
inefficient energy devices is reflected in the increasing amount of greenhouse gases, environmental
pollutant, sea level, and health issues that must be reduced and balanced for green environment and sustainable energy process.
Energy barriers also need to be identified and mitigated.
These barriers to energy efficiency include aging power infrastructure, old technology, inefficient thermal and electrical utilities, etc.
To achieve energy efficiency management standards, energy modelling,
energy analysis, energy auditing, and energy monitoring are used.
This is analysed and presented
on four areas, which include: energy efficiency management standards, energy efficiency and climate change, barriers to Energy efficiency, and energy efficiency policies.
Energy efficiency management standards shows the standard in place for energy efficiency, and the energy policy gives further information on how to encourage energy efficiency implementation.
POET tool is used to avoid bias and sentiments in the making of energy efficiency standards and policy.
