A very large seascape with turbulent swells of green water and a grey, stormy sky. Foreground left a large ship with an English flag, various figures visible, with small sail/rowing boat approaching. Centre, a much larger ship showing a Spanish flag and a large rowing boat departing. Two further English ships can be partially seen behind the Spanish ship, a Spanish ship sails into the distance background right. (1) Sold by Cole at Christie's on 17 June 1893, as lot 380. (2) Bought at Christie's 17 June 1893 by Vokins [?] for £420. (3) Given to the museum by Sir Charles Seely, Bart., in 1898[?]
